Marijke is an experienced Veterinary Technician originally from The Netherlands. She graduated from Lentiz College as a Veterinary Technician in 2010 and has since worked with various species both domestic and wild. Marijke is very passionate about improving the welfare of sloths and other wild animals through rehabilitation that leads to release as well as improving rainforest habitats for all wild creatures to thrive.
Why I love sloths
I love working with sloths because they are such a misunderstood animal. Most people think they are slow and lazy and just want to cuddle, but that couldn’t be further from the truth! They are very special and delicate animals that do not want to be surrounded by people.
Every day I learn more about their clinical needs and life in the rainforest. Sloths needs our help because their populations are declining and I will do everything in my power to help them and educate people properly about sloths.
