Meet Kamala, a young three-fingered sloth who was rescued within the Tulemar property.
One day, our team received a call about a baby sloth who was found lying face down on the ground after suffering a fall from a tree. When we heard the news, we immediately went to assess the scene.
Upon arriving, it was clear that Kamala was in need of being orphaned, with no mother in site. This required us to bring her back to our facilities where we performed a thorough health check and unfortunately discovered that she had suffered a concussion from the tragic fall and had an ulcer on one of her eyelids. Luckily, she was examined around the clock the first night of her stay and otherwise appeared to be healthy with no signs of neurological damage.
We quickly fell in love with her due to her big eyes and tiny head – with a wonderful, energetic personality!
She is amazing us by progressing extremely well in her rehabilitation process and has already been fully weaned from milk! While this is great news, we are still monitoring her diet to ensure that she reaches the proper weight to one day be released back to her natural habitat, in the trees where she belongs.
If you would like to support Kamala in her journey back to the wild, you can symbolically adopt her which helps us continue to care for her and track her once she is rewilded!
I absolutely adore Kamala! She seems like the biggest sweetheart. How is she doing? Is she still growing stronger?
