ConservationReleased SlothsSloth Diaries
Today was an important and exciting day for The Sloth Institute and our rescue partner Toucan Rescue Ranch!
When three-fingered sloth Destiny was rescued, she was just a little baby, a twin who sadly fell from her mother. When she was found, she was weak, very sick and only one eye was functioning. Over the past year and a half, Destiny has blossomed into a beautiful young adult sloth and now the big day has come that she’s ready to go out into the world to be on her own.

Three-fingered sloths are very difficult to care for in captivity with most rescue centers around the country reporting a very low success rate in hand-raising three-fingered sloth babies. This makes Destiny’s story all the more inspiring and a very exciting day for our Saving Sloths Together program with Toucan Rescue Ranch.
Destiny is wearing a custom designed VHF collar so that we can track her progress back into the wild every minute of every day. Help us wish Destiny good luck with her new found freedom! Thanks to our donors and supporters like you, sloths like Destiny have a chance to survive and return to the wild.
